YOU Salon

What is this… Pinterest? Why do I want to follow YOU salon?

Many of you may have heard about the new internet craze Pinterest. You may be wondering, “Why would I ever want to join another internet site that falls under the category of social media?” Well I was wondering the same thing. After I heard about Pinterest from many people I finally decided I would check it out.

The first thing I noticed was that it is very different from other social media. First I didn’t get instant membership. I had to either be invited from a friend or I had to ask permission to be given an account and wait a few days for acceptance. I thought, “well this is different, it must be sort of exclusive.” It turns out that Pinterest began to grow so rapidly that they began to ask users to apply to join so that they could keep up. Pinterest is so popular; they must be doing something right!

Once I joined and began looking around Pinterest and I realized what I had been missing. Pinterest is a virtual pin board (cork board) that allows you to post images of things that you like on the internet. Things like arts, crafts, photos, cars, and pretty much any other hobby you can dream of.  Pinterest is so much more than just a bunch of images grouped together. You can click on the image and it will take you to the original site that it came from. On those sites you will see information about the picture you are viewing. For example, I saw an image of a very intricate braid. When I clicked on it I was taken to a blog detailing how I can recreate the braid. Amazing! So not only is Pinterest a virtual pin board of images, but those images are then linked to information!

Here at YOU salon we decided this would be a great way for us to share our inspirations with our guests. Our stylists post images of haircuts and styles and colors so that you can see the latest fashions and use them as a up to date look book for whenever you decide that you need a change. We can access Pinterest during your consultation and then use the images as inspiration for your new look!

So if Pinterest sounds (p)interesting to you, then sign up and check out some inspirations before your next visit. Also, be sure to enjoy creating your own personal pin board!
